The Capo Milazzo Marine Protected Area
It is a special observatory of an area rich in biodiversity. A place that offers unique emotions of its kind. Milazzo is the city with the longest exposure to sunlight and an ideal climate for marine and terrestrial flora and fauna. Just admire the variety of landscapes that enliven the promontory to experience sensations that only nature can provide. A wealth that must be protected by creating a model of sustainable development. From this perspective, the Capo Milazzo Marine Protected Area was established, which, in a completely natural way, is destined to be a tourist attraction. A destination with great economic potential that goes hand in hand with education and respect for nature.

ABOVE THE SEA
No less important is the birdlife on site. The strategic position makes Capo Milazzo a “springboard” for migratory birds. The Hoopoe, the Kingfisher, and the Peregrine Falcon are just some of the species that can be spotted on the Promontory.
There are also numerous endemic and rare botanical species of Mediterranean scrub, including the Sticky Globe Thistle. Colors and scents accompany visitors along the paths leading to the renowned “Venus Pool,” a true natural paradise suspended over the sea in the heart of the Marine Protected Area, or, overlooking the sea, “U nfennu e paradisu.”

UNDER THE SEA
The site features natural peculiarities that make it unique. The geological characteristics tell of a striking promontory: inlets, coves, and caves alternate among rich fossil deposits that attract researchers from all over the world.
Diving into the seabed offers a breathtaking landscape among large white and yellow gorgonians, big red sea fans, meadows of Posidonia oceanica, and the Black Coral of the Ponente shoal. Equally fascinating to divers is the rare Basket Star, a symbol of the biodiversity of the Capo Milazzo seabed, where historical and archaeological artifacts are also attractive, as evidenced by numerous underwater discoveries.
The Marine Protected Area also offers strong emotions for those who love to observe fish fauna: large schools of Mediterranean barracuda, red and golden groupers, together with sea bream, tuna, and lobsters, create an incredible fish tableau.
